Whether you’ve lost a loved one, a relationship, a pet, your health, or a way of life, grief can feel like time has stopped. While it can sometimes feel like we are expected to just “get on with it”, grief is not something we simply get over. Rather, grieving is an adaptive psychological response meant to help us move from what we knew before into the unknown of what lays ahead. It is something we learn to grow around and to move forward with.
Counselling therapy offers space to process the full spectrum of grief-related emotions, memories, and meaning without judgment. Our counsellors help you move through grief at your own pace, finding ways to honour what you’ve lost while staying connected to life now and developing a meaningful future.
We draw from grief-informed and meaning-centred frameworks, which can include person-centered, emotionally-focused, and narrative therapies, amongst others. Sessions may involve reflection, storytelling, and gentle emotional processing.
What to Expect
In counselling, you can express your grief openly and explore the complex mix of sadness, guilt, anger, and love that very often accompany loss. Together, we’ll help you integrate the loss into your ongoing story.
